The Art of Life has some very exciting news! We are so pleased to announce that we have two new interns on board with the Art of Life Cancer Foundation. It has been amazing to see how the blessing of a new office space has opened the doors for so many opportunities.
Thanks to the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning and Humanics at Fresno State both of these interns will be working in partnership with us this year. The new interns will help make day-to-day operations run more efficiently and we hope to positively impact them as they interact with survivors and experience all the services that Art of Life provides.
Introducing our two Interns, Abigail Thomason and Evelyn Gonzalez!
Abigail Thomason is a senior at Fresno State majoring in Communication. She came to us through the Scholars in Service program. Her father is a stage four cancer survivor and she is passionate about her mission to enhance the lives of cancer patients and their families. She is married and works as a Substitute teacher for Fresno Unified. Her ultimate goal is to attend law school and to one day become a prosecutor. Abigail participated on Fresno State’s mock trial team for three years, most recently as a co-captain. She will be partnering with us to improve our website and document important events by sharing stories of impact on the Art of Life blog. One thing you might be surprised to know about her is that she loves baking delicious desserts!
Evelyn Gonzalez came to us because of her involvement with the Humanics department at Fresno State. She is in her fifth and final year, and is also a part of the Jan and Bud Richter Center Ambassador’s Program. She is excited to learn about the policies, board recruitment, and board development that will occur because of the grant Art of Life recently received from the Humanics’ “Student for Giving Philanthropy Project”. She is a Sociology major with a minor in Spanish & Urban Civic education, and is also completing certificates in Humanics and applied research. Evelyn is the first in her family to attend college. Something that might surprise you about Evelyn is that she loves salsa dancing and has been to Fiji!
When you see Abigail and Evelyn at future events, be sure to say “hi” and welcome them to the Art of Life family.
